He lets it trail off, the implicit offer to listen if Schu wants to talk and drop it if he doesn't obvious.

They haven't, and I don't have any solutions I can see yet. I've been really depressed, and I feel really alone.

But you're happy. I don't think it would help me to bring you down.

Kakyou props his head on one hand. "Is there anything I could do to cheer you up?"

Since Schu and not Kakyou is the telepath here, he will compromise by moving to the other arm of the couch where he's closer to Schu's head and petting from there.

I'm already avoiding my new apartment. I haven't even finished unpacking it yet. This is the third time I've had to move in the last frickin' year.

Kakyou smiles, continuing to pet. He defaults to doing it the way he likes being petted, fingers stroking slowly through the hair.

"That is a bit much. If you want help unpacking when you're ready to, I don't mind."

I got the packing done in a fit of adrenaline, because I knew I had to move fast. ::And Aya had helped a bit.:: I don't have anything pushing me to unpack. Seeing the boxes lying around isn't helping my mood, but having to find another new place to put things just reminds me that I had to flee again.

When my apartment in Japan was firebombed and we had to leave the country, I decided to see London as a fresh start. When Brad refused to protect me from Farfarello's influence and I had to move out on my own to make myself safe, I decided to think of it as a fresh start. My first apartment all by myself, and I made it my own. I had to leave it behind because I did something nice for Aya. I'm out of feeling the fresh start optimism.

::The petting is somewhat calming and really appreciated, but there's only so much it can do for someone who's lost too much and doesn't have any stable points left any more.::

...you're right. I could visit that way. It's just... we had a bit of a mental link, which is how the scamp managed to track down where I lived even though the time I brought him there I'd blindfolded him and did all kinds of false turns and backtracking in my car. I had to break that to make sure he couldn't find me again.

Brad thought I was braindamaged to think this way, but it was usually cool to me for Aya to randomly show up at my door like a stray cat, a nice surprise. I liked having him around the house.

There isn't, but it isn't as full an experience. It's like cutting off one of your senses. I guess it would have to do, though.
