::He's looking inward, not outward, and stubbing out his finished cigarettes in the big mouth of the goofy frog ashtray he has perched on one couch arm. If he's smoking, there are generally three possibilities:
1] He's with a smoker.
2] He's annoying a non-smoker.
3] He's stressed.

Nobody's. It's not even Brad being bad, just... he's jealous of you and Farf here and hates feeling that way. He feels like he's not "providing" well enough for me and hates feeling that way too. The seduction he put on for me this morning...! He had it all going on: the pushed up sleeves, undone collar, loosened tie, rumpled hair... mmm. Drool. He went all out in the doing too....

But when the most certain guy in the world starts feeling reluctantly uncertain and not enough, it feels weird for me, even just from the small stuff I can pick up from his multi-time-stamped mind. ::smoke::

My partner in my own world doesn't like me putting my life on the line for what he calls my "quasi-imaginary friends" in the Nexus. We had a big talk about it, and he hates to talk about his feelings, so....

What brings you by my neck of the woods? With that Charm thing going I have no idea. It's like somebody turned me deaf. Really unpleasant.

I dunno. He's still getting used to the idea that he can't really stop me from coming here, that I'm getting some family feeling here I need that he can't give me, and that having access to the Nexus already saved my life once. I think I'm gonna have to work on him.

He's mostly okay now. Still pissed about getting thrown around and hurt, still pissed that you threatened me considering I'm kind of his mother figure... but he's practical. He's a good kid, and he's a strong one. I'm trying to undo a lot of shit a lot of very evil people have done to him, but we all have trust issues, especially with people willing to beat us down.

But if you mean your word, we're good. I don't come to the Nexus to work or fight, I come to relax and socialize.

I totally mentioned that and made sure he knew that none of the Crawfords liked the Nexus or wanted to stick around, so he wouldn't get any ideas about trying to set up in the Nexus. Brad likes life as it is and enjoys being a big fish in a big world. Being a smaller fish in a chaotic multiverse full of polyamorous smartasses would not suit him.

Heh. I'll always keep that in mind.

Loyalty is what got us through the badness we had to live through under Rosenkreuz and Eszett. There was an us to fight against the them, and we had our pact that we would beat them and free ourselves.

Unfortunately, in my world, once we did that it started to fall apart and Farf and Nagi left. I still see Nagi sometimes but he's grown up and independent now. Left the nest. It's just me and Brad there now.

What I have here is my second chance at family, and I'm not gonna screw it up. And people are so much fun to talk to! If that makes me different from a sociopath, whatever.
